Title:   I Will Raise Him up at the Last Day... (p. 2)

  Text:   John 6:44

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:44

This week we will continue our study of the eternal salvation of every believer. Last week, we saw that we could have assurance because of God's will. This week we will see our security in Christ because of God's way.

II. We can rest in God’s way.
Perhaps there may sill be a fear in someone’s mind. :”What if I cease to believe in Him?” To reinforce His Word, Jesus again says “I will raise him up at the last day.” This time He gives the assurance of God’s drawing, God’s way of working within men.

This verse is often used to remind that God must draw the sinner if he is to come to Christ. Man cannot be saved when he wishes. He must be saved when God is drawing him to Himself. This is an accurate interpretation of this verse. However, in this interpretation let us not neglect the latter portion of the verse. Jesus promised that all those who come to God when He draws will be resurrected in the last day.

One thing that I do remember well about my salvation experience is God’s drawing me to Himself. He convinced me that I was helpless without Him, lost and undone. He drew me to Himself and I received His drawing. Therefore, Jesus Christ has promised me that I will be raised up in the last day.

Do you remember God drawing you to Himself the days, weeks, or months before you were saved? Perhaps you were a skeptic of the Christian faith, and God continually reminded you that God and His Word were true. Perhaps God brought you through a personal tragedy to make you see your need of Him. Perhaps He spoke in His still, small voice of how much He loved you. If you responded to His voice and accepted Him, Jesus has promised to you that He will raise you up in the last day. Take God at His Word.
